Title: 1988 DeVille Convertible For Sale
Post by: Rich S on December 25, 2010, 06:47:05 PM
This looks like a "good buy" on e-bay (I have no affiliation with the listing) and it is a relatively rare car:

This would have the 4.5 litre V-8 and it appears to be one of the conversions from a specialty firm in Lima, Ohio, whose name escapes me at present. Merry, merry!

Apparently someone thought it was a "good buy" also, since it was snapped up right away!  ;)

I don't know if there were too many of these made, but I looked at one in the mid 90's for sale. For me, the proportions of the car did not lend itself to a convertible body and looked kind of short and stumpy.  The 89-92 DeVille would be an excellent platform for a conversion, but I don't see too many of them offered for sale.

That one on ebay looks like a nice car, so hopefully it will be enjoyed by the new owner.

So whats with the huge English / metric button on the dash?   I sort of recall that being a prominent feature on many cars that is sometimes easy to accidentally switch in some cases when its located near something like the trip reset button.   Do some people actually switch back and fourth that often?   The people that I know that operate in both worlds seem to be happy to just leave it set one way and let their brains do the conversion sort of like those that live on the time zone lines, they dont rest their watches every time they cross the line do they?

When one crosses into Canada and back into USA a lot.   Very handy so that one doesn't have to remember to mentally convert the Speedo Reading regarding Speed Limits, and distance travelled.

Us "seasoned" travellers do change our watches when travelling through Time Zones. ;)
