Post Wiper Blades

Can anyone share the secret of removing post wiper blades from the post on a 1972 CADDY Coupe? I'm ready to use a laser beam and sledge hammer...!@#$%^&

Post?  Are you trying to remove the whole arm?  Or are you talking about the blade from the end of the arm?  Are these older metal blades?  If so those were usually held on with a spring. The loop of the spring goes around the post on the arm.  You just used some sort of a poky tool to lift the spring out of the groove on the post and the blade assembly will slide off.  The plastic ones vary depending on brand and age.  There can be a whole plastic bit that has to flip up or a little plastic tab to press down.

I don't appear to have the technology to do a screen grab and draw an arrow on your photo.  Paint was a handy program for things like that. 

There is a plastic insert that has to pivot to let it release.  In your photo you can see the end of the fat black round shaft, that is what the plastic has to pivot around.  The upper part of the plastic is kinda C shaped and is going over the silver metal shaft that is part of the car.  Above the metal shaft used to be 2 plastic ears the one on the left is broke off but the right one is still there.

All these directions will be as looking at the photo.  You need to press in on the plastic bit below the big black shaft.  There are scratch marks so you or someone was close.  It may help to also stick something in that small gap between the black metal body and the remaining plastic ear on the right and try and pry the plastic up while pressing down on the lower part below the black bar.

The plastic needs to pivot on the bar and will raise up off the silver shaft which will then let you slide it off.

That blade is nothing like what I have on my '72 Eldo.

There should be some sort of spring holding the arm to the pin, or the plastic piece is held in place by friction.

The original style had the spring that doubled as the tension for the blade support as well as dropped into the groove to hold it on the post. 

When you buy blades like he has you get a few different plastic inserts so one model can fit most applications.  Pretty much all you have to do is get the length correct.  If you don't like this I think you have to go to some place that sells reproductions or if you still have the originals special order the 'refill' that is just the rubber part.

My local NAPA store carries the original style rubber replacements that just slide in and just recently started having the whole original style wiper blade holder(silver/chrome looking).  I think they call it "The Classic", not 100% sure.
