1960 62 Series hood V and fender spear

My V for the hood and one of my side fender spears have lost their pins.

Has anyone had any luck repairing these? I'm considering trying to drill the spear and epoxy or soldier studs to it and I guess rough up the inside of the V and epoxy studs to it. If I can't find good replacements.

Any thoughts or experiences with this?

 Joe, I have actually done exactly that on the hood Vee's on my 60 flattop and coupe, I used a small stud and really roughed up the the inner surface to get some JB Weld to hold, works pretty well if you don't over tighten or really slam the hood, the spear would be easier I would think, also the 3M Molding tape will hold as well. Good Luck

I ran into a similar, but not identical problem. My Caddy was lacking the badging on both fenders. Probably lost when the originals were removed for painting and the pins broke. No surprise there. Fortunatley, I had a spare mint set in parts. I decided not to use those push on friction clips to secure my replacement badges. Instead I used a hot glue gun to put a dab of molten glue on the inside over the pins to hold them in place. That was about 12 years ago. No issues since. I reasoned that if I ever have to take them off I can just remelt the glue and not damage the pins during the process, so they can be reused. Nothing has moved and those badges remain rock solid. When the car is up in the air I occassionally check my hot glue "welds" and they are fine. So a trick that worked to safeguard your existing pins during a future removal. FWI worth. Clay/Lexi
