Hi
Can anyone help translate these numbers from a tyranny stamped 8618310 and 9N12 next to the shift lever it is supposed to be from a 58 Eldorado with the 365 ci. stock.
Thanks Dan

Roger Zimmermann

If this is a 1957 or 1958 transmission, there is a riveted plate next to the shift lever. A typical stamped number on that plate would be for example C-58-12345.
The numbers you wrote have no signification to me.

Thanks Roger :
I don't have it in my possession yet and I can't read the stamped tag in the photo but I will contact the seller for that info.

Hi Roger,
Here is the tag and number appears to be  C-58 9557 so what does that indicate?

It means it is a 1958 Cadillac transmission.  9557th produced

I cannot see any number on the tag...If you could read C-58 9557, it means: Cadillac Series 60S, 62 (because it could be a Pontiac or Oldsmobile transmission with a different letter), 1958 and the low number means that it's an early production.
There was no more differences between Eldos and regular cars.
