1992-1997 Trunk Lock Bezel

A friend recently purchased a Frost Beige 1994 SLS in absolutely mint condition from Californite. It came off the flatbed at a dealership here in NJ, and I was amazed to see that the trunk lock bezel had a red background.  I have a 1994 STS, and two friends have 1997's. All of the trunk bezels that I've ever seen from those years had a gray/silver background behind the "Cadillac Motor Car Division" lettering.  I've since seen red ones offered on eBay.

I'm very curious as to where the red versions of the lock bezel came from.  Were they part of an option package? I don'ts see any mention of different versions in the shop manual or any possible mention in the sales brochures from those years.

Any information on this would be sincerely appreciated?
