I live in Snohomish and made the trek over the mountains last Sunday to document what was left for Caddy parts at Smartys.  My goal is to save these cars and as many of the parts as possible.  I will gladly help any CLC members in anyway I can to help save as much as possible.  If you are interested in a car or parts contact me and we can make arrangements.

I am really interested in the 37 LaSalle as a potential full restoration candidate.  It has most of the parts and with some serious hammer & dolly work....hehe.  Otherwise it seems like a great parts car to keep others on the road.

I have a car hauler trailer so picking up full cars is not a problem.  Lets save these parts and cars!

Another question for the CLC club.  What would a rebuilt and restored Flathead V8 go for?  I counted at least 6 Caddy bodies with the Flatheads still intact.  If there is a demand for them I would love to bring these old motors back to new and get them in some cars.

The car pictured is a 1939 LaSalle. And candidly, you would make better use of your funds giving them to something like Make-A-Wish than throw any money, no matter how talented you are at this pile of scrap metal. (Except, make sure that it does or doesn't have the radio and the glass lens for it, and the cigarette lighter and associated parts that are so scarce.) There just isn't enough of the car left other than these mentioned parts to make it worth the haul.

After saying that, I will add that I have spent many pleasant days trudging around parts yards looking out for Queen snakes and Gully Cats. Good luck.

Any car project is what you make of it, and are willing to spend without looking for any gains.

If that car floats your boat, then pick it up and have fun.  After all, the car hobby is about having fun. A few can make a buck at it, but is that their hobby or profession.

Call people that take in parts cars,

Like:

Allcads in Vegas

And rpm motorsports, they take parts cars including Cadillacs.507-377-1138

This way if they buy then the parts will go to people that need them.

I agree with Barry, the '39 Lasalle is a parts car. On the other hand the '42 '46 '47 ? fastback may be restorable.

Lots of 60s and some early 70s parts, doors, front clips, hoods and massive bumpers.  I took pictures of almost everything that was even a little bit interesting.  The only things I could not take pics of was the stuff inside the sheds.  Shelfs and shelfs of carbs, heads, manifolds, headlights and windshields.

Save the door trim, rear window, glove box lock assembly.  That's just in a quick scroll down.  Pick that car apart.

Well the way that Smarts is doing this sale is if you want the glovebox you buy the whole car.  The goal is to clear the land.

So if there are enough parts pointed out by the fellow club members on any of these Caddys I will buy the whole car, trailer it back to my house and then part it out.  My goal is not to make any money, its just to save as many parts as possible to keep these old girls on the road.  Corkys says he will take crazy offers and I will be testing that next weekend when I head back to make offers on the 39 LaSalle and that Fastback.

I also plan on grabbing any of the Caddy hoods or bumpers I can.

So lets hear it, what Caddies have enough parts that the car should be saved?

My 2 cents. You strip a car, and you will have parts from that car 15 years later. Some parts sell fast, some sit on the shelf for a very long time.  It also takes up room to store all those parts.

Great news from Smarts!

I drove over yesterday to see what is left and all the Caddies that are 70-90% complete are sold.  The 39 LaSalle just sold last week and I am hoping it does not become a stupid hot rod.

When I got there Corky had moved the last 90% complete Caddy up to the front to hang a 'liquidation sale' banner on.  Well since it was the only one on my 'gotta save em' list I bought it.  Ends up I almost missed her as the guy that bought the 39 LaSalle wanted it but said it "wouldnt fit in his basement" so he passed.  Corkys Dad had marked this 47 as "no parts" so it is 95% all there and just missing the radiator, axle shafts and obviously hubs and wheels.

Adding the "40s" to my collection.  Getting a "70s" & "80s" will be easy and easy on the wallet.  I have a feeling going to the "20s" might require a bit more hard work to get the wallet ready for it.
