Must be a nice car .Can i ask you what you want for it ?

50Cad62

I want the buyer to look it over in person before buying it. I don't know what I want for it, if someone is serious, they will make a reasonable offer. I'm not trying to be secretive or anything, Cadillac people know what these are worth.

Surely worth a Bazillion dollars! Especially if it's got 4 doors and "ran when parked".    Joe G

Well, I just drove it today. It runs great.

Does look like a nice car, and I love 1950 Cads, but "making an offer" is kind of like bargaining with yourself.

Hi Ed. Any history in the car?  Did you just aquire it?  I saw several other posts of yours recently regarding this car as you carefully got some items fixed. More details the better.

My standard offer when people say that is $1000.
It's your car and you should set an asking price because you know what you have tied up in it.

If an asking price is not plainly stated, I never inquire any further and just assume the seller wants too much.

Unless we're on The Price Is Right, an asking price should always be listed in any classified advertisement. It just saves a lot of time all around.

Well i am in Belgium and i will not travel or send somebody over when I have  no idea what somebody wants for his car .I do not even go to the town next to mine to look at a car without asking price .I traveled so many thousands of kilometers to look at cars and then find out the seller only asks people over to see what they would give for his car .

Ed,
Sounds like Dan is seriously interested. I would throw a number out there, but that's if YOU are honestly serious about parting with it. Here's your opportunity........

There was a 1950 Series 61 at Hershey this Fall, around 50K miles, $35000. There is a 1951 in Hemmings with pics, 45K, asking $32000. Both 4 doors. Mine has original paint, original interior, 19K miles. I am asking $27000.

DBDB

Ed , thanks for letting us know your price .It must be a nice car but can you prove it only did this mileage .

50Cad62

There is a sticker on the door jamb that shows 18000 miles as of 1970. I also have an inspection sticker from around the same time with around the same mileage. I also know the car's history, it wasn't driven much since then, then acquired by the owner that I bought it off of in 1984, he drove it sparingly. The car spent its entire life in garages on one street in town, then the owner that I bought it from lived in the same town. The car never left its small town where it was bought new. I even questioned an elderly man whose cousin ran the local service station who said the owner was always bringing it in for service, AND IT DIDN'T NEED IT, according to him. Plus, if you look at the car and drive it, I think you would agree with the mileage. It really seems like a low mileage car, I've owned a lot of cars.

Oh, I copied the title from the prior owner. He bought the car in 1984, sold it to me in 2016. It says 19 thousand miles in 1984.

DBDB

Vince , are both cars sold by now ? At this moment the $$ exchange rate is very bad for us from Europe so buying is a problem at this moment but that can change very fast .

As we all know well, asking is not the same as getting and it should also be remembered that only a very small percentage of cars advertised in Hemmings actually change hands in any given month.

That said, if the car is all you profess it to be - as in a documented low mileage unrestored original with all areas in excellent preserved condition showing extremely minimal wear, there should be no shortage of interested parties.

Hold on, I never said the car was perfect. As an unrestored original, the carpet shows wear, the seats show wear, a fender is a bit misaligned, and, the paint on that fender a bit crazed. The dual exhaust are not original, installed in 1978. They need replacement. I am being very honest, if someone is interested, I want them to see all that. That being said, if I wanted to replace the car if I didn't have it, it would cost me $40000, I'm sure. I once sold a car sight unseen, and, the buyer went crazy, and demanded a refund, even though he never looked at the car.

Seeing more and more of the early 1950's Series 62 sedans for sale lately.  Here are two that I posted recently on behalf of the owners:

Beautiful cars Vince. Did they sell?  A friend of mine bought and imported a 1950 into the UK just as good earlier this and paid $18,000 for it. It truly is nice and appears he got a bargain.
