I mentioned welding it, he said to get another one.

The car came with gauges, that didn't work. And 4 live wires behind the
gauges about to set the firewall insulation on fire... Wires were twisted
together and wrapped in duct tape. <sigh>   \m/   Laurie

It always takes me weeks if not months to get a car up to standard.  Guess
some wiring work is in order, the only way duct tape is involved, is as
possibly an outer wrap before applying a clamp.  good luck, Bruce Roe

Indeed Bruce!
I'm pretty happy with the way things are going. Doing all the important engine stuff and little
bit of fluff. I want to buy all the 'pretty' parts, Scott wants all the important parts, LOL!
REALLY looking forward to the front brake job. When that is completed and working properly THEN
I'll have him remove the failed EB rear cables and send them off to InLineTube for replacement.

I've broken this project down to 3 groups in order of importance:
1) engine/mechanicals
2) body
3) interior

The speed of which this is accomplished is determined by my expendable cash.

The crack in the steering pump bracket could be the result from the misaligned belts causing a vibration. This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone having a crack in this bracket for any year.

A used one should work fine from a car that someone didn't mess up the pulleys on LOL.

I'm almost certain that I have a spare PS pump bracket.  Not cracked.

I've had cracked ones in the past and ones where the top edge wasn't even there anymore!

1) Wanna sell it? LOL!
2) And it still held good tension on the belts? Mine is cracked vertically.

Maybe.

The PS pump has two sliding anchor points, not just one, plus it has the fixed pivot point.

I saw that today when I was CAREFULLY spray painting the freshly installed AC condenser.
Those engineers knew what they were doing, they built in a Plan B and Plan C. Prolly why Scott
said look for another one but not in panic mode.

Does this happen to you guys... you're 3 days away from a show and tinkering under the hood. You see something that's "dirty" so you get out the rag sprayed with WD40 and start wiping. The rag hits something you didn't intend to wipe off but now you're compelled to since "that" has a clean spot now. 2 hours later after only intending to wipe off the air intake area you've ragged off the whole flippin' engine...

Car therapy.

"Does this happen to you guys..."

Only about 90% of the time.  Same reason that so many of us have started out to fix one problem only to end up a few years later having restored the whole car!   ;D  ;D  ;D
