What is the back story on these 1978 special edition 2 tone brown Eldorados?

This car if truly a 19k mile car, is certainly a good purchase at $5900 or so.  The odd thing about these late 70's Eldorados is you see one of these moderately priced at $5900 and then 2 months later, several states away someone will price one at $15,000.

The biggest thing is condition, roof rust, and options, especially Astroroof.
The car in the ad may be underpriced.

Appears to have a CA tag on a car on a car posted for sale in MI - on Craigslist - that's apparently priced far under market value.

Eric. Look at the bottom of the license tag. It says Mackinac Bridge. The bridge from MI to Canada.

I would have to change the file type to post the tag from their state website.

The Bluewater Bridge goes from Port Huron to Sarnia, Ontario.  The Mackinac Bridge connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan.  That is one of multiple plate designs available to purchase anywhere in the state.

Reassuring to know. That's why I said "appears to be..." because I wasn't certain and I could not make out the state's identification on this end. 

I figured it might be a variant of this CA plate.

Look at pictures 1 and 2 top of front bumper fillers are cracked. Last pictures are OK. ??

I would ask if he is using some older pictures since ad states fillers have been replaced. So are we looking at before and after photos?

But seems too good to be true. I do not care for these cars but at $5900 I might be tempted.

I love shades of Brown, gold, copper, etc and even I do not care for this special color combination on the Eldorados.  I love 77-78 Eldorados in that deep metallic brown, like the one that got rear ended in the California thread, but tan and brown on this not a good combination.

This was the only color combination offered on the 1978 Eldorado Custom Biarritz. Gold Biarritz script was a part of this edition.

It's about the worst color combination I could have imagined.  I wonder who chose it?  I hated it when it came out, and I still hate it.

The tires appear to be original in some of the pictures. Notice the width of the white walls changed. This would support the miles claim.

I did not realize it was a trim package above and beyond a Biarritz, I guess, a "Custom" Biarritz. 

Age of excess and not knowing the winds of change, trying to glean one more year from the Dinosaurs.  Thankfully it was worth it with the 79's, unlike 1986.

Thanks for posting that information, it answered my questions regarding this model.  Wow, what a long name!

1978 - Cadillac - Eldorado - Custom - Biarritz - Classic.

I have now seen 2 others on my almost daily searches, at higher prices. I disagree with the article's author that 1978's are more collectible than 1979-85's.  Not less so, or more so.

Hi Bryan,

The 78 Custom Biarritz Classic you posted is the first reasonably priced one that I have seen (I do not know anything about this 78). I feel that the  examples on eBay are overpriced.

And as someone mentioned within the string, that the pictures may not be current.
