Looking for some valve covers and air cleaner assembly for my 76 Eldorado with EFI.

I have an original set of valve covers $60 pair. Shipped from 85004

I have to ask. What happened to the original covers? Rusted? This was supposed to be a near 0 mile car!

I also recall a thread where someone had duplicated the air cleaner graphic. If you're just not satisfied with the original parts but they exist it would be an option. I would try searching the technical and general topics sections. As I recall there is one commercially available but there were comments on it etc which would be helpful to read. That thread was probably less than 1 year ago but I think certainly under two.

Was the EFI cover different other than paint and decals?

Back when I was first asking about this car one of the questions was about the air filter and valve covers because I had not seen any pictures anywhere where they were chrome and I wondered if that was an option and all the answers I got was that was not an option.  Either way the I am looking to have the option of putting it back to original.  It looks like the original owner had them chromed.

The trouble with Chrome is that it does not dissipate heat.

Three means of heat transfer: Conduction, Convection and Radiation.  The only mean effected by the shining chrome surfaces would be radiation, and since there essentially is no place to radiate the heat to under the hood any difference in total heat transfer would be minuscule.

Being a kid of the late 50's and driving in 73 I remember all the chrome back in the day but I don't remember any Cadillacs back then with chrome, mainly muscle cars.

TJ they were chrome along with the alternator bracket, hood latch and fan shroud cover.  I'm headed today to see how much it is gonna cost to get the rechromed
