Title: Caddy factory steel wheels.
Post by: jwwseville60 on April 09, 2024, 09:53:01 AM
Ive recently changed to wire wheels for my 1970 Fleetwood.
I was under the false assumption that GM had strengthened the steel wheels for radials
by 1970. I know radials were an option in 1970, but maybe today's compounds are just better and stickier.

Id like to hear opinions on exactly when the steel wheels were strengthened by GM.
Thanks!!

Cadillac did not offer wire wheels from 1955-1978, the 1978, 1979 wires were by Dunlap and were extremely problematic. Wouldn't hold air, broken spokes...  The next version were offered in about 1981 and greatly improved.
