Fresh out of the vault. The kit consists of all 3 grommets to repair your linkage. 2 blacks ones & 1 green one. Do the job right with the correct parts. This corrects the sloppy linkage problem.  NOS is always best. $85 postpaid in the US. Please contact me directly at bobscads@comcast.net.Just added a used linkage set. Mostly original patina. Stored for years.  Good greeie & one good black grommet. $125 postpaid.
Thanks, Bob

I'd like to get one, but my FSM shows 4 grommets.  Do you know which ones are in the kit?

Bob Hoffmann CLC#96

It includes the 3 on the bottom linkage only, not the one on the steering column. I have 1 kit left. Email me ASAP if you want it.

Bob,

If you still have them, I will buy them - let me know how to pay you.  I'm working on a 1974 Eldoardo with sloppy shift linkage.

There is still hope.  Honest John has the full set of 4

I installed John's set last weekend, but wasn't that happy with them.  They are not reproductions.  They are just currently manufactured grommets that "sort of" work.  That's why I contacted Bob on Monday.  Anyway, not a difficult thing, I'll find a satisfactory solution one way or another.

Rick,
I guess I better chime in. The reason I didn't see your reply was that you sent it via PM. The system failed as it has in the past & didn't send me an alert Email. I'm sorry you missed out but it wasn't my fault. That's why I ask to be contacted directly. I have several of the green grommets left if that might help you.
Thanks, Bob

Lesson learned about the PM system.

How much for a green grommet?  Also, do you know which grommet that would be in the diagram?  Thanks!

Hornetball:

I haven't installed anything yet.  However, I bought a set from
Honest John AND Bob's set since I needed the large "green" grommet.
The small ones are identical -- that's why I called them repros.

Please tell me why you had a problem with them -- it may help
me when I try to install mine.

Guys,
I'm pretty sure the green one is by itself & retains the linkage rod.  Can anyone confirm that?? I do have some green ones.  Rick has first choice.

The "green one" is by itself and holds the linkage rod.  If you DO HAVE
those put me down for one.

Starting with the two small grommets that go in the bracket and support the "Relay Lever" rod:

1.  The inner grommet needs to have the inside lip removed since the rod is not grooved at that location.  Easily done with a drill.
2.  The outer grommet needs to retain its inside lip to interact with the rod groove and retain the rod.  However, when I pressed it together using lubrication, the act of pressing stripped out the inside lip.  The rod is now retained mainly by friction but can be pulled out by hand with some effort.  I've been driving the car since then and it's been OK, but I need to get some positive retention there.  Order of assembly might make a difference.  The way I did this one was to press it into the bracket and then press the rod through.  Another option might be to drill the outer grommet also to reduce the height of the lip.
3.  These grommets looked really similar to OEM but obviously have some differences in interior dimensions/material.

As for the larger "Relay Lever" arm grommet (the green grommet as Bob stated):
1.  After my experience with the outer rod grommet, I attempted to reverse my assembly procedure by pressing the grommet onto the rod first.  In doing this, I ended up tearing the grommet.  So I re-installed the original and am hoping that the green one from Bob will be a good replacement.  Based on my experience here, I suspect that pressing these grommets into their hole and then pressing the rod through is probably the better assembly order.
2.  This grommet was visibly different in length and material from OEM.

As for the grommet on the steering column, I was too frustrated to even try.   >:(

Anyway, Bob, let me know a price for the greenie and I'll PayPal you.

And, if anyone wants to school me on the best way to press these in . . . I'm all ears!  :D

Guys,
ONE greenie left. I'm going to the PO Monday. I think this is the most important of the three grommets.
