Sources for parts for 1939 Series 61 convertible

I am headed next Friday to try to make a deal on a 39 Caddy Series 61 and looking for parts resources.  So far I am coming up empty for the complete fuel system, fuel pump, sending unit, fuel tank etc.

I am not sure if it is 6v or 12v yet, hopefully it is upgraded but if not I will be doing that as well as installing a air conditioner (later).  Brakes will need to be redone of course as well as front end and God only knows what else.

Send the fuel pump out to be rebuilt. The gas tank is not reproduced. If needed, The gas tank will be very hard to find in restorable or better condition than whatever you have. If at all possible, have the existing one repaired at Gas Tank Renu. You may lose points at a show due to the thick coating they use but you don't want to show it anyway.

A/C in a prewar convertible? Really? Just put the top down.

Thanks Tom, that's what I was afraid of.  I have used Renu before with my 76 Caddy.  Although I will be taking it to car shows I don't care about points, it's just for fun.

As far as a/c yep, putting the top down when it's 100 degrees out does not get the job done, I would rather have the top up in comfort.

As for mechanical parts in general, I got many at Kanter Auto Products. That was a long time ago. They are still in business but I don't know what they carry now. AllCads of the '40's may have something you need also. They are crazy expensive. Inline Tube still makes reproduction fuel and brake lines for prewar Cadillac. A lot of the places I got replacement parts at are gone now.

Jon Issacson (39Lasalledriver) may chime in. He did his mechanical restoration within the last 6 years and he would know current sources. Or you could PM him.
