Title: exhaust manifold gaskets, 346 flathead
Post by: Rhino 21150 on January 28, 2007, 09:25:07 PM
On the old flatheads there are three pieces of exhaust manifold bolted to each other. Are there supposed to be donuts between the sections of casting? Also, should there be a donut between the manifold and the headpipe? Or do these use flat fiber gaskets (asbestos or substitute)?

There are two flat gaskets for the crossover pipe and a flat gasket for the exhaust pipe/manifold interface.  The two exhaust manifolds use a longer strip gasket with several holes.  All are fiber or asbestos-type gaskets.  They are available from Coopers as a set.
