Title: 1953 DeVille -- SPARE TIRE --

 8) does anyone know what size SPARE TIRE is supposed to be on the outer trunk/bumper on a 53 Cadillac Deville . I'm not talking about the inside of the trunk I'm talking about on the outside bumper swing arm, my trunk hits the SPARE TIRE when I open... acting like the SPARE TIRE is to big. whats on the back now I a full size but I don't know if tha is right. thanks.. If you're talking about an aftermarket continental
kit, it's going to be difficult to answer your question.

Cadillac never offered this as a factory option for any
year.  There were a number of companies, especially
in the 50's, that offered these kits.  They were also
sometimes offered by dealers as an accessory. 

However, again, it was not a Cadillac product.  Common
sense would dictate that the tire in the kit would be the
same size as you were running on the vehicle, but I
don't know of any way to verify that.
