There are a few honest men out there. If I had a running and ratty 1939 or 1940 LaSalle sedan and saw this, I'd be tempted...  (And if I were forty years younger!)

It's probably not even worth what he's asking. That's why it hit Craigslist....In all honesty, look at the "Condition" of that car. Not one useable panel, and that's in Pictures......

Yes but Bobby it is straight and what passes for complete.  Fairly straight, for $1300.  Most of the time you see these 30's convertible sedans, the asking price is $8,000 or something and you pass right over.  Here at least you can ponder.

39 had no wood, so you are ahead right there.

I did "Ponder" it for a Millisecond before I came to my senses.....Not enough life in me left to tackle something like that anymore. If it were an original Shelby GT500KR, well...Maybe  ::).....That's perfect for Quentin or even Steve Butcher  >:D. I do Love that you post these things for all of us opinionated gear heads.

Crappy pictures. Looks like a cut off sedan. Great parts car or custom with a Carson top.

I was thinking the same thing.   Can't see a convertible sedan suffering such.

It is Rough but hell, the running gear is worth the asking, and besides, it's no worse than my 37 convertible when Bob found it in the 70s.

Steve,

I saw a picture of your car once before.  It is just stunning. Perhaps you could bless us with a lot more pictures of it. Would love to see them and hear about your restoration process.  Have you really driven it for over several decades?

I pondered just as a parts vehicle (engine transmission rear axle assembly) I have seen worse but the cost of shipping an unseen car would be the same as the asking price.

BJM

The question was raiser whether it is legitimate or not. I note nowhere in the ad does the seller mention convertible sedan. I looked at the windshield on this car and compared it to the 2 door photo - it's close.  Wouldn't they make a convertible sedan by chopping off a 4 door sedan roof anyway?

I would bet it's a cut up sedan and not a factory convertible sedan.

Steve Passmore

Correct me if I'm wrong, but only the convertible sedan had doors that opened that way so it can't be a sedan with its hat off although the windshield top does look odd.

Thanks for the compliments Bob. I bought the car in 2005 and it was exactly as Bob (Hoffman) found it in 72, never touched so no, not that many decades driving her but she's been on the road for 7 years now and I use her whenever I can.  I did start a restoration blog about 11 years ago but I fell out with the club hierarchy and deleted it.
