The Tassie Devil(le)

G'day all,

Whilst replacing my Starter Loom, I noticed that I am in need of a replacement Outer CV Joint neoprene flexible cover for the right CV Joint on my '72 Eldorado.

Looking for the MOOG 2456, sees all places saying that the part is no longer available, and probably waiting on Moog to run a manufacturing process to make some more.

Anyone know of any that might be available?

Thanks,

Bruce. >:D

G'day Bruce,
Don't have an answer for you but a suggestion. I would bet that SOME Chevrolet truck would have a boot VERY close to what you need.

This is what it looks like in the first photo.

It needs to be that shape as the other accordion types, even though they fit, sometimes don't have the correct clearance.

I used a "bolt-on" replacement rubber when I got the car whilst in USA in 2008, but that didn't last long as it rubbed and split.

I checked RockAuto and it seems the Moog part is out of stock.  The other types (with more folds) are available.  Reman axles are also available, but it seems they use the multi-fold type boot.  Might be good to keep an eye on this and stock up if you have an Eldo/Toro.

I went to the MOOG site, and it told me that they were available through O'Reilleys, so I tried  O'Reilley's Auto Parts, and they had them in stock, but the website came back with  Access Denied

So hopefully, I may be getting them through Matern when he replies to my email.

The Tassie Devil(le)

Found one in the Netherlands, so no need for more looking.

Hopefully, MOOG will start making them again so they won't be as costly.
