It it absolutely disgusting the number of scammers that infiltrate these websites. Twice in one day I backed off a scammer, the second one was good. Both times it involved someone recommending another person. "Contact Rita her husband died and she has a lot of the parts you are looking for " BEWARE >:(

Tom Boehm

The scammers have made the "buy and sell parts" section of this forum useless. Regardless of your opinion, stopping scammers will be a positive for the new rules.

From my recollection, the person instigating the "Contact Rita" was banned a short time ago.

The biggest problkem with Spammers is that if Members continue the practice of putting their email address or phone numbers in their posts, they are asking for trouble.

The ideal way to contact, and be contacted is by the Personal Messaging feature, which only Members can use.   Plus, if a Spammer does manage to use the PM, it means that they have managed to join, but they can be easily banned.

Or putting their email address as their User Name.  Nothing like asking to be spammed or scammed.

Could a warning or suggestion be included during the new registrations process not to do this?

That is a very good idea, I will add it to the Forum rules that show up when a new user clicks the 'Sign In' button

Yesterday, I was reading the stuff from Quora that comes up on my email. I clicked on one of the sidebars and my computer locked up with "the voice of doom," telling me to go immediately to "Microsoft" at the bar indicated. The thing I clicked on was "39 things you should know about cars," or such.

DON'T go to where they tell you. All you need do is cut the power to your computer and turn it back on. It should work perfectly again. (And resist clicking on those sidebars.) This morning, I was also checking Quora, and saw this wasn't on a side bar, but in the regular line-up of subjects. So, better not click on ANYTHING of those enticing Quora subjects.
