Title: am getting into the caddys have a 1936 also 1940 limo

what is the reason for the vacumn line from fuel pump to carburator it is disconnected on the 36 but it runs fine flathead v8

Did a previous owner install an electric fuel pump near the gas tank?

Likely augments the vacuum for the wipers.

Poncholover you are right. That vacuum line is for the wipers and has no effect on the fuel. There is another line that goes from the fuel pump to the wiper motor under the dash.
