Title: 74 Eldo convertible top problem
Post by: danjarrett1 on April 24, 2024, 07:07:03 PM
I have a 74 Eldorado convertible. Have been having issue with top stalling during retraction to the up position. Have recent motor, relay and good grounds. One member suggested looking the the hardware in the main pivot point. There is a bolt with a castellated nut and cotter pin on both sides. I did notice it would appear that the bolt has backed out some, but the cotter pin is installed. Is this a normal gap (see attached pics) both left and right, pic was taken with top down. Any reccomendation? It's supposed to be that way? It needs to be tightened? Open to any help.

My '72 had the scissor top with steel wires ... the pulley system needed cleaning and lubrication, and the hinges also needed lube.   Perhaps doing so this will help,  James

I never saw a pulley system with regard to the steel wires that maintain the tension of the sides of the top on my '712, or the '71 that I put a roof on.
