Hi,

I'm displaying my 1979 Eldo for the first time at a show and was wondering if it's normal to display the original window sticker or just a copy? (Would the car get more points for displaying the original?). Would you just tape it on the inside of the window (front or side)?

What else would you display? And how? G.ex I have the original unused spare tyre and jack and inflation can etc. But normally it is hidden in the trunk behind a cover.

Any other tips?

Thanks and much appreciated.

If anyone is in southern Spain, the show is tomorrow (4 Sep 2022) in town of Benahavis in Malaga province.

I wouldn't have thought that any show outside USA would consider a Build Sheet as a must in any display, apart from showing the people attending the really low prices and availability of the options.

As for sticking any tape to an original, I would be taking a copy and using that.

Down here in Australia, these things, and Numbers-matching is not thought of in car shows, except maybe in really Concourse Judging in really posh make shows.

Tassie- I put a copy of the window sticker in a plastic sleeve and tape it up.  Just about everyone is amazed at the cost back then and the options.  Always a good draw.  I make them myself on the computer so they are legible, and keep the original ones in the restoration book I leave out for folks to see.

Actually, when did the Build Sheet become a Window Sticker?

I haven't perused any new car dealerships since 2000, and never ever saw the Window Stickers that are on show in USA showrooms.

These days with most cars having all the options, there wouldn't be much to see on a Build Sheet.

I show my '55 with a window sticker that is not the original, since in '55 they didn't exist. It contains all the usual info.
It draws a HUGE amount of interest, see photo

It's acceptable to frame a color copy of the window sticker. Try to never take an original to a car show. Not everyone there obeys the laws.

If I were you, I would scan the original sticker and put the copy in a plastic sleeve as already suggested.  You don't want the original damaged by tape or rain or careless handling - or worse!
