Title: Old US 27 Tour in Michigan in August
Post by: D.Yaros on June 09, 2009, 10:48:48 AM
Anyone familiar with, ever been on, going on, the Old US 27 Tour, in MI?  It is an annual event.  This year it is from 18 Aug through 23 Aug.  The participants drive from southern to northern MI, (Coldwater to Cheboygan) with a a police escort.  There are car shows along the way.  I believe a total of 10 cities are visited, and there are about 5 car shows.

Here is the web site for the tour -   http://old27tour.com/itinerary.php (http://old27tour.com/itinerary.php)
I ask, as we plan on participating this year.

That has to  be a real fun thing. This is the first I'd heard of it.

In the early fifties, I used US 27 a lot, as it was the way to the straits, and an excellent highway. I'd pick it up at Houghton lake, if memory serves, and follow it right to the Straits. The bridge wasn't there, so we had to use the Ferry service from Mackinac City to St. Ignace.

I'll check my calendar to see where I'll be. I have a funny hunch that the dates might fall right on the Antique Wireless Assoc. meet, in Rochester, NY.
