Title: Is a 1940 Fleetwood Rare or Valuable ?
Post by: mb on October 29, 2009, 08:11:13 PM
Hi,
I found a 1940 Fleetwood near me but don't know much about the 40's. It needs restorstoration. It's a 8 cyl car. Is this car especially valuable ? I know everyone should be saved, but is it a couple thousand dollar car as is or a $ 5,000 car as is ?
Thanks
Michael

I assume you're talking about a 60-S? Does it have side mounts and/or a division window? If not, it's really not a rare or valuable car. You didn't tell us too much about the condition, so... I'm gonna say way less than 5K. HTH, Bob

What if it's a Series 72 or 75?

Thanks for the replies. I assume it is a 60 series Fleetwood, but I am not really 100 sure. It is not a LaSalle. It's a 4 door sedan. It does not have sidemounts. I don't know about a divider window. Is there a visual difference between the different series ?

The best thimg to do would be to look at the cars data plate.  It's aluminum & 2/12 X 4". I think it's located near the center of the cowl  under the hood. Write down all the info & we can tell you exactly. HTH, Bob
