I needing help finding the VIN number on a 1942 Cadillac we are getting ready to restore.
Where should I look to find it?

Just behind the steering box on the chassis rail.

Sorry, but they switched to the RH passenger side on the 42's. Just ahead of the cowl. The engine # is easy, right above the water pump.

Didn't know that Bob and I guess I should have as a friend close to me has a 42. You came to the rescue again :)

wow that # is much easier to read then the one on my 46.
