Title: 1937 LaSalle wheel question
Post by: Rich Iannelli on June 19, 2015, 10:50:02 PM
Hi,
Does anyone know if the 6 lug wheel on my 1937 LaSalle coupe is the same as a 6 lug wheel from a 1937 Cadillac series 75/85.   Will the Cadillac wheel work on the rear of my car?

Thank you,

Rich Iannelli

According to my 1935-55 Master Parts List, the wheels for a 1937 LaSalle and a 1937 Cadillac series 75/85 have different part numbers.

You don't have 6 lug wheels Rich or at least you shouldn't. They should be 5 lugs.
The wheels for 37 big series are 5" wide and could well be 6 lugs where as yours are 4 1/2" wide and 5 or they should be.

Thank you Steve

I do have 5 lugs wheels.

Would you know the bolt pattern size?

Thank you,

I'll pull a cap and measure it tomorrow.

Its 5x5 Rich but be warned, there are plenty of 16" wheels out there with 5x5 but 37 wheels are peculiar to 37 only. They have a centering inward facing lip in the middle thats larger so although it will go on the car it can only rely on the bolts to hold it in place and holding it while you try to locate the bolts is a job for Superman.
I bought a wheel advertised as 37 which turned out to be 38, its now just a side-mount filler :-[
