Title: 1953 speedometer cable
Post by: broadcreek on October 11, 2015, 10:39:50 AM
My current speedometer cable is causing the speedometer needle to bounce around a lot. I've lubed the cable but it doesn't help. My attempts to buy another cable have not worked out. Can anyone recommend a reliable source? Thx

Have you taken the speedometer apart to check the worm gear?  That's a common failure point in these units from failing to lubricate the wick.

or the magnet in the head is worn which causes needle to jump around. Dave

I recommend Dick Reynolds in Naples, Florida if you need a complete new cable assembly. Last year he made one for my 49 Cadillac and it fit and works perfectly. His phone is 941-643-4103.

One more to check into is "allcads" in Las Vegas.

Has a lot of original parts, I walked his inventory and wow.

And he has repop.
