I have the shop manual for 39-41. on page 278 is the electrical diagram. is this the best one available ? thanks john
John: This might be the same one but it is expanded and might be easier to read Bill
Hi Bill, that is a better electrical diagram than the one I have; where is it from? The image is partially cut off, so, if you wouldn't mind I would greatly appreciate locating this one. Thanks for your assistance, Frank
Frank: I found this at Hershey several years ago. I scanned the whole wiring diagram for you but needed to split the scan as my scanner is not wide enough to do it in one scan. Hope this helps. Bill
Thanks very much Bill, I truly appreciate your help.
Best regards, Frank
thanks bill itook the first one you send to have in enlarged. i will take the other one too, john
What would be truly great is if someone has a body wiring diagram to go with this! Both this and the factory diagram show a flag to that harness, but I have never seen its diagram. Does anyone have this?
Paul
I found this online for later models. It's quite similar. I have never seen a body wiring diagram for a '41 or '40 model. Without the old wiring, I could only guess.

Ed: That 47 body wiring diagram came from the Fisher Body Service Manual for 1946-1948. I can`t find my 1941 Body Service Manual and the body wiring diagram for the 41-60 Special that Paul would like, might be in the 41Body Service Manual. Anyone have a 41 manual that could ckeck for that wiring diagram? Bill
Nothing in my 41 body manual about wiring at all.
Here is the diagram from the 1941 Shop Manual. Harry
Thanks Harry, that's good help for a lot of situations, but suffers from the same gap as ever other I have run across - there is a flag for 'body lighting feed' but no supplemental diagram for what happens there. It's fairly different by model what happens in the body lighting circuit.
Paul
What are you actually after Paul? Is it exactly where the wires run in the body?
Steve
I am probably ok, as I bought a new harness from YNZ, but was thinking more about this as info to help the community. Depending on models, there are different configurations of courtesy lights, cigar lighters, rear compartment radio, etc. There are also a lot of grounds that are managed in the rear seat area.

Typically the YnZ harness does not include all of the detail wires that run all over the place above the headliner and other items. It includes only a hot lead that comes out of the harness as it passes on the left side above the head liner. this is from experience in 38-9039, 40-60S, 40-6267 and 40-5227. I have not done a 41 of any series. I have looked in both the 40 and 41 body manuals and find no details in how the wires run as shown in the 47 body manual. The 37-38 Fisher manual does have those diagrams. Keep in mine that in 41 the wires changed completely because Cadillac changed from hot switches to ground switches. In other words hot wires went to all lights/lighters, etc. and the ground came back to the switch which was grounded when switched on. In 40 and before the hot lead to the light was switched and the ground was just a short lead from the light to the nearest metal ground.
