Title: 1942 Series 62 Convertible on eBay
Post by: gary griffin on September 12, 2017, 05:28:38 PM

Very interesting car and parts car. Convertible has 25,000 miles advertised and running but suffering from many decades of storage. $5200 bid so far but 6 days to go. Car is in Portland Oregon and lots of pictures.  Would love to see it go to a member rather than a flipper.

Gary,
Hi...Not for nothing, but that car needs EVERYTHING! You will be upside down in no time flat. Unfortunately, our 40's cars are not bringing what they used to. Just pointing this out  >:D.....

But it really might have only 25,000 miles. Seems about right for the minimal porcelain erosion on the ex manifolds over the last 75 years. Could it run "tight" after a thorough mechanical sorting ? Might be fun , particularly for someone near Portland. And all those parts ..............  - Carl

I even saw a box of 42-60S fender skirt bars in the trunk. Wrong "V" on hood, should have the '41 emblem, but nice roll-up windows rather than mess with power ones. Anyone that buys it needs to talk to Rob Robinson who has one that is restored. Remember what Bogie said..."The stuff that dreams are made of..."

Carl,
Maybe you should pick it up. That flathead should run real tight after sitting around in a barn for who knows how many years.  ::). After all, the owner states that this is an "Easy Restoration" and "MAY WELL BE THE LAST UNRESTORED 1942 CADILLAC CONVERTIBLE ON THE PLANET !!!
I say, GO FOR IT! Add the numbers up my friend and see where your heading with this one.......

According to the auction description, the car runs and drives.  Oh, to be 10 years younger.

Be very careful and make sure that the chrome door window moldings are on or with the car. If missing they are next too impossible to find.  You are looking at a rust bucket. Look at the big rust hole in the trunk floor. Probably also needs a new floor under the back seat. You had better have deep pockets if you try to restore this car.    Bill
