Title: 1960 Cadillac stock rim size
Post by: 60eldo on June 23, 2018, 08:34:58 PM
Correct me if Im wrong but the eldorado rims are bigger than standard deville rims. In order to put an eldorado hub cap on a deville rim, it will not fit . Eldorado rim is 16 1/8 which means the eldo cap wont fit on a deville rim, deville rims a 16",,,confused yet?

Jon,
You REALLY need to buy a MPL that covers the 1960 model year. You would be able to answer many of your own questions & dispel "urban" myths!

Jon

That's a master parts list.
Eldo and Deville rims are the same. The tangs on the hubcaps need to be bent and adjusted to fit the rims securely. Especially the heavier Eldo hubcaps.
The Eldo caps dent very easily even with a rubber mallet.

Some guys fit them and also use a bead of clear silicone to glue them on.

I am guessing that 15" is the measurement at the tire bead and Jon is talking about the very outer edge.

yes, outer lip to outer lip. I had a guy years ago with a 60 eldo and he wanted to buy a rim from me cause his eldo cap wouldnt fit on his 16 in rim, he made me measure mine 16 1/8. it had to be.

If you are off center by less than one inch the diameter reading will be off at least that amount.  The proper rim diameter measurement is the bead diameter and the ElDorado wheels were the same as all the other non Series 75 / CC wheels back then.
