Title: 322 engine from my 39 Lasalle pins removal question
Post by: Dick on December 18, 2018, 11:39:00 PM
Gentlemen.I recently removed the 322 engine from my 39 Lasalle. The engine was taken to a shop and stripped down.My question is....how do you remove the pins that lock the 2  large screws that hold the crankshaft balance weights to the crankshaft its self? I am quite surprised that the mechanics are asking me,as they have never seen these square looking pins before.I would appreciate any help with this.Thank-you.

G'day Dick,

I changed your heading to read correctly.

Bruce.

Never seen pins holding the slotted machine screws in place??  Possibly fitted by someone in the past?

Mine are just staked in place along the slot...no pins that I see.  Why do they feel it is necessary to remove the counterweights??

I have never seen pins either. All the engines I have worked on, 322 and 346, are like Scott pictured.
