Thanks, that's what I though when I saw the picture too, sorry I should have put a tape measure beside it because it's actually quite large, maybe 6" diameter ? I believe it's a speaker grill ? or something similar from the dash ?

It fits on the front of the hood of a 1958 Buick, wholly surrounded by the sheet metal. So it is a hood ornament, of sorts, just not a "stand-up" ornament
