Hello
I have searched high and low to find replacement floor mats for my 55 Coupe DeVille. Anyone know someone who has NOS or makes replacement for these accessory mats that were an option for that year?
Good question I would love a set like this for my 55.
Cadillac did offer as an official "Cadillac Accessory"
a rubber floor mat in 1955. This was listed along with
Blue Coral polish, visor vanity mirror, cooling system
cleaner, etc., and other such items that could be
purchased at the dealership.
I don't ever recall seeing an original set and do not
know of anyone who claims to be producing the
"original" ones. If you check on the net, you will find
a large selection of rubber mats for sale by several
firms. They are also embossed with the Cadillac crest
and nice, quality looking sets. OPGI has them, for
example.
However, I cannot testify as to the authenticity of any
of these. If that is a prime concern of yours, you'll have
to do some research.

Interestingly enough I reached out to this company, Cool Cars California (https://www.coolcarscalifornia.com/), and they said if I send them the originals they can duplicate them for around $1,500. Not cheap, but nice to know it's there as none of the larger vintage parts suppliers for Cadillacs I've reached out to have them or know where to find them.
Cool Cars California said they'd drop the price to $500 per set if someone else will commit to buying. Sounds like he's hungry to get mine to make the template. He can probably make a killing off these once he's got it. Anyone else want to commit to it? That's quite a reduction in price.
John,
I've been looking for just a set for my 1954 Series 62 Sedan. Do you think your template would fit?
Michael Kelly
After doing some research these are a period correct after market accessory. I can't find any reference that this was used in Cadillacs.
I think the mat is a generic. When I was a kid our 60 impala had a set just like it.
just saying
Gentlemen,
The pic below shows the ’55 rear mat which appears to have the same field design as used in ’56 & 7. They were available in black, green, blue and white. The rear individual type are listed for ’54-57 with the same PN. Full sets - front & rear- are listed for ’56 & 7 only and appear in the section for individual mats; but does not specifically indicate “Individualâ€. A one piece front mat was listed for ’56-7. I’d say you are pretty safe using ’56 mats in your ’55.
Edit: This is a better pic from the '55 Accessory Catalog. Click and open image in new tab
To the best of my knowledge the ones in the photo are original to the car. I took a chance on Cool Cars California. They are making templates out of my original mats in order to reproduce them, which should be done in a few weeks. Hopefully it was worth the money. I'll post images and my thoughts on the quality when I get them back. The guy there said he's got a variety of colors he can make them in if someone else wants to purchase them.
The floor mats pictured in the first post are definitely aftermarket, universal type mats and not a Cadillac item --- could be the selling dealer installed them, but they did not come from Cadillac. Western Auto, Sears, JC Whitney, etc. sold mats with a design very similar to what is pictured.
I have to agree with the previous postings. Those
mats the OP posted pics of are aftermarket. Mats
were available as an acccessory for 1955 but I do
not have a picture to show you, just a reference in
the accessory catalogue.

OK. Now you have me interested. I have a 59, 62 series. I contacted Cool Cars mentioned above. He can make me a color correct set for my car. He quoted me $500 as well. But there is a one time set up fee to do the molds of $250. If I can find more guys the $250 would be split among us. He can do any color. I want mine in green. I will send him my mats to make the molds. If anyone else is interested please post here and message me. Thanks
Ed,
FWIW, I believe someone is or was reproducing '59 mats. I've seen different color sets in high point cars judged at the GN.
Ed you can get these in various colors from USA Parts, Ebay , sometimes OPGI and Hydroelectric.

During the restoration of my '55 CDV, I had SMS in Canby OR make all the upholstery, headliner, door panels and carpeting. They custom dyed wool carpet for me, same as original.
They made a few extra yards of carpet which was made into floor mats by my interior guy. We found a local embroidery shop which embroidered the Cadillac logo on the front mats as well as a trunk mat.
The main cost was for the wool carpet. The rubber floor mat backing was sourced at the local auto upholstery supplier.
Came out looking really cool.
Will post photos if anyone is interested.

Yes, please post the photos of the carpets.
My problem is color. My mats were a aqua marine color. No one makes this color. I ended up buying black and they are just not right.
Hi Ed, sorry for the delay, see these photos of my floor mats. These were custom made for the car, but since I was doing the whole interior anyway, the added cost was pretty minimal.John Adams
Thanks John
Maybe I'm missing the point. Ralph showed what original mats looked like. Why not reproduce them???
Bob
Hey! any chance you still have those used aftermarket mats? I'd be interested in them!
