I bought these seats to give to my son-in-law for a 1970 Monte Carlo but now I'm wondering how rare they are and the approximate value. Power buckets both sides in similar condition.
Hard to say. Do you have the center that goes with the seats?
I think I can get it. It's about a 8 hour drive round trip.
I have the back seat as well but it isn't in as good of condition. Probably could be saved by an upholstery shop.
Make sure you get ALL the brackets for the console AND both inboard seat brackets. They will need to be cut out of the floor pan. They are the "forgotten" parts.

With the complete set, including console and brackets it could be valuable to someone that wants to convert their Eldorado to buckets.

It was a fairly rare option in 1970. Only available in the Eldorados.
Only 1.9% were ordered with buckets according to Wards Automotive Yearbook statistics.

Looks pretty reasonably priced. Curious why there weren't more ordered. This WAS after all intended as a gentleman's sports car.

I think the lack of a center armrest with the bucket seats such as the Imperial and 300 had killed some potential sales. Shown is a '70 300.
Wayne,
Bucket seats on a '70 Monte Carlo are quite common, so I wouldn't give these to your son-in-law.

The cost of the bucket seat option included leather.
Leather seats by itself was a $184.2 option.
If you ordered buckets the price
doubled to $368.40
so that sounded like a lot of money then.
But the real killer of bucket seat sales was the test drive. The bench seat had a nice big fold down center armrest. The buckets had a console that was the same height as the seats. So no comfortable place to rest your arm. Plus no 6-way power option with the buckets. So many people decided to pass on the bucket option.
My 70 Eldorado has a white interior with buckets and console. The dealer and the zone office gave the original buyer a hard time because Cadillac only intended to make the buckets and console in black leather. Only when he said to cancel the order did they relent and made the car the way he wanted it. The console is really a cool piece. Well made, leather and chrome trimmed and lit up inside.

Shame on the dealer for not wanting to order the car the way he wanted at first. Even the book says it was possible but as a special order. No doubt they just wanted a faster sale.
I had a 1970 eldo with sunroof and buckets...no console . Spartacus blue with white leather, black trim.
