Here is the latest update on temperature sending units that work.  (See temperature sending unit discussion in sales forum)  I have just returned from  a 1400 mile tour from Rochester, N.Y. to and around Wells, Me.  Prior to the trip, I purchased a sending unit from Then and Now parts, (AKA Auto Parts Cellar).  I was very excited, because my gauge seemed to move.  The gauge worked beautifully on the trip, and is a great buy at around $50.00.  I must dispute the fact that nothing can go wrong with the original sending units, because cleaned up and all, this is the only one that worked.  tonyz
