I have a 1937 Series 75 formal sedan.  The glass insert in the hood ornament does not have the etching in it and I'm assuming it must be a replacement. Was the glass insert  always etched and if so does anyone know of either an original or nice reproduction glass insert of sale?

There is a discussion about the mascot - etched or not? (page 5)

I think your suspicion about a replacement is correct.

McVey's sells replacement glass for the goddess.  You can probably get it etched or not etched.

I think they are etched anyway if McVays are still selling them, you could also try Don Sommers where I bought my complete mascot, Don has to get the glass vane from somewhere, he may sell them separately.
