I have what is "believed" to be a 1940 LaSalle.  However it was titled as a 1935.  Is there a way to use the VIN number to identify the correct year of the vehicle?

Thanks for your assistance!

Yes, a 50 series 40 LaSalle serial number is 23****** and a 52 sereis 40 LaSalle is 43******.

The engine serial number will work as long as the engine has not been swapped

Do a Google search for 1940 and 1935 La Salle.  You will see images for them.  It looks to me that the 35 has headlights on the side of the cowl while the 40 has them in the fenders.
