The neutral safety switch in my 1950 Cadillac with Hydramatic has a broken terminal on the part that controls the backup lights.  I have two questions regarding this:

1.  Can these switches be repaired?  It looks like a new terminal could be soldered onto the broken part, but would the heat from the soldering process ruin the internal parts of the switch?

2. What are the differences between neutral safety switches for 1950, 1951, and 1952-53?  They have different part numbers,  but look very similar.

Thanks.
