In the 1st column, what does the little smiling square indicate AND in the 2nd column, what is the paperclip?

Paper clip indicates the presence of attachments in the thread. Ie: Photos and/or other documents.

Don't know what the squares mean.

Look at the bottom of the main page .
Square is the type of topic. Normal, hot and etc.................
