Anyone ever repair a vibration damper? My 53 recently came loose. it has 6 rivets. .My main question is the rubber anything special?. and could I bolt it back together? Thanks, Dave

Dave,

I don't think it's just a matter of replacing the rubber. I understand when they rebuild them, the rubber is replaced and then vulcanized. I would just replace it. I replaced mine a few years back not because of the rubber going bad, but because the surface that the front seal rides on was worn pretty bad and caused the felt seal to leak. See photo. I got the replacement damper from USA Supply. They have a core charge that's returned when you send them back the old one.
