I was driving my car this morning and when I made a turn or the car had to idle a long time the engine died. It was very hard to restart even using the elec. pump.I'm betting it is a fuel problem. My best guess is a fuel filter or something in the carb float. Does anyone have any other ideas. Thanks, Steve

Sounds like float to me since it does it in turns and then when idling it can easily flood. It's common to have particles of whatever stuck in the needle on the float.

Check also the flout itself. I have had numerous flouts spring a leak and gas gets inside making them heavier flooding the engine at low revs. On high revs it will burn off.  The copper is very very thin on these old flouts.
