My A/C does not work so it's disconnected.

I have 1 belt on it that is length needed.

Question is, the pulley has two groves for with a/c,  do I need to have 2 belts on at all times, are both needed for the generator and such?

I well remember learning about the need for not only both belts, but that they needed to be "a matched pair", FWIW.

No, my guess is, if youre not using your AC and its disconnected, you dont need both belts on the generator.  One should power it fine.
