1934 LaSalle Coupe rear brake drum removal

I purchased a ruff 1934 LaSalle Coupe, and the first thing to do on the list is to get the car to easily roll around the shop.

3 of the wheels roll and move pretty freely....but the rear drivers side is locked in place.

I cut the parking brake cable and the star wheel won't move in either direction.

Should I loosen the big axle nut and go at it with a big wheel puller like in the other thread I saw here lately?

Sooner or later the brakes are going to have to be done so I'll be trying to remove all the hubs shortly.....please point me in a good direction before I destroy lots of hard to find parts.

Yes, try to pull it off Mike. A powerful puller will pull it even if it's binding on rusty brakes. (least mine will LOL)

My recollection is there is a trick to using pullers on brake drums. I think the procedure is to put a load on the drum, then whack it with a lead hammer, perhaps several times. Then put more load on, whack again. Just increasing the tension on the puller can lead to some surprising results.  I'm sure there are more experienced brake people on forum, so I hope they will chime in and expand/correct.

My new / used ebay wheel puller made quick work of my hubs.

Here's a picture and of the brake set-up..

Next is to find the right people to re-sleeve and rebuild the wheel cylinders, the master cylinder.......Also who can I get to re-shoe the brake linings....??

Thanks to you guys for the puller idea !!......worked like a charm!!
