Cadillac 390 crank snout spacer??

Question... Does anyone know if a '61 Cadillac 390 has this fibrous crank snout spacer like the earlier 331 and 365's?  See attached photo.  Rebuilding a 390 and not sure if I need it or not.  Crank and cam sprockets seem to be in perfect alignment but reading this has me nervous...  Thanks for any info!

G'day Nathan,

If there was supposed to be a "soft" washer between the front hub and the Crankshaft, then it would have been mentioned in the Shop Manual.   

I don't have information on the earlier engines, but engineering practices would not put a compressionable anything between two surfaces without installing a register for the moveable part to stop up against when installing.

The only "Thing" that is between the hub and Crankshaft in the 1959 and up engines is a metal oil "Slinger" to direct the forward "escaping" oil towards the timing chain.   This eases pressure on the Oil Seal.
