Hi all,

I am in the process of restoring my 57 Limo and now I am working on the steering gear.
Anybody know if the drag link tube originally was painted?
Or was it just natural steel color as I can find no traces of paint.

Thanks,
Kurt

On the tube of the drag link, I have an orange paint dot on my 1957 Eldorado.  Other than that I have no paint.

As the part is a sheet metal one, I'm almost sure that it was painted black at the factory. Without that, it would turn red in a short time (like the drive shafts do). The paint was very thin, and stayed as long as the warranty (6 months). After that, the oil leaks from the engine would prevent the rust.

Thanks, Roger - makes sense.
I will paint it satin black (semi-matt)
