Coodeville, go to any uphostery suppy house and tell them what you need .They will sell you the springs OR tell you where to get them. Buy springs about 1 &1/2" longer then your present spring, While you are at the shop, pick up a "ball of heavy STRING. Used to tie the springs together at the top.Jim

The Spring material in the 70 models should be the same as in the '69 models.   This consists of long "S" Shaped springs, and a foam covering with Hessian and spring wire interlaced in the Hessian for the Foam to sit upon.

If so, and you have a sagging problem, then you have broken springs, and no amount of string, Sorry Jim, will fix them together, even when new ones are found.   You will need the same metal clips to secure everything together.

I have attached some pictures of how I repaired the seats in the '69 SDV.

I simply got a similar profile and "Laminated" the broken one with the replacement, so that as well as repairing the break, I also gave the seat a bit more tension, which in itself made the seating position a bit firmer.   Nothing worse than a bad posture on long trips.

If the springs are not broken, then the likely cause is just worn seat padding. This is pretty common.

These seats used a combination of the old stylle stuffung and foam. Ususally the foam can be replaced to give the seat it's original support, or a "filler" can be used on top of the original foam to provide extra support.

Plus, if the foam is degraded badly, you can simply replace the rotten part like I did by removing the bad stuff and re-gluing in some replacement foam of similar density.

I used a sanding disk on a 4" angle grinder to accomplish the "Milling" operation.

You will also need to replace the Hessian if that is bad.

But, carefully re-use the spring wire that is within the Hessian.
