Richard ,

The switch is a Honeywell Micro Switch 1TB1-3. I would try an industrial electric supplier like Grainger Electric. The leaf will have to be found from another car or make it from sheet steel if you can get a pattern from a member.

Richard -

First, get to know Ralph (and Walter Youshock)!  These guys are as sharp on 57's as anyone and have helped me IMMENSELY
over the years.  Their expertise is invaluable when it comes to one-year-only 1957 parts - like your trunk pull-down motor.

As for your trigger leaf, do you have any of it left?  If you have the piece that mounts on the top of the microswitch, you're in pretty good shape.  The originals were made of spring steel, much like the lock retainer plates that go inside the doors and trunk
lids.  You can use either a spring clip (like from Staples or Office Depot) that you would use on a stack of papers, or a piece of
pallet banding strap.  A bit difficult to cut and work tempered spring steel; I used a cutoff wheel on a Dremel tool.  Be careful because if you bend it it will snap.  The paper spring clip worked for me since it already had a hinge roll (tube?) at the ends.  If you're careful you can flatten it out using a hammer and anvil, then cut out the required shape.

Compliments of the Modified chapter guys:

I had to pay for my copy!

Richard,

I wasn’t very clear in my last post. The Micro Switch already has the arm and little roller end attached. I was suggesting, if you had to,  making the wider leaf above it that the deck lid strikes.

Carl, thank you for the compliment……Now I’m good to go for another month :) ……BTW, any new pictures of your Biarritz?
