Just wondering if anyone knows if Diamond Back tyres are worthwhile to be fitting to my 1955 Coupe. I am looking at 3 inch whitewall radials. Is this considered a reputable brand among Cadillac owners?

Diamondback has an excellent reputation, I personally would go with them before Coker.

I've had my diamondbacks on my 56 for quite some time now.....6 or so years and they are wonderful. The whitewalls are just as white as they day I bought them and they haven't cracked or anything.   When ordering make sure to ask them about having the beauty ring fitted(see my last pic)  It really sets the tires off and it makes them look more authentic, like a bias ply tire!  It does add a bit to the price, but overall it's worth it!

I concur.  Diamondback is a great source for classic "tyres."  They are always very helpful on the phone.

What were the stock tyres for 55 wide whitewalls or not ? I really like the wide whitewalls with the beauty ring just curious on what was stock.

Bob,
Whitewalls have been discussed extensivly on this board. Early WW's , read that as early - fifties & earlier had white curb rails. In about 1952 US Roal Master came out with black AND colored tires. The curb rails were no longer white. All other mfg's folllowed suit. So... Diamond back offers white curb rails as an option but they may  be incorrect for the car they are installed on. I'm sure someone will chime in with an original 55 tire & give you the correct width.

Well regardless if the curb rail is incorrect or not...radial tires are incorrect for 1955 cars.....so might as well buy what you like since it's going to be incorrect anyways..unless you go bias route.  1956 whitewall width was 2 3/4" I think....the ones installed on my 56 pictured above are 3 1/4" including the white curb rail which sets the tire off, in my opinion.
