I have a noise that I can't find out.
Can a generator make an electric "sound"?
Don't know quite to explain the sound.
Have heard from people that a generator can make an annoying sound that is electrical generated.

If that sound is a high pitched whine, similar to 60 cycle AC current, you have one or more diodes failed . There are 6. Also that era of DELCO alternators had a problem with the rear bearing failing, due to underdesign/heat.

If you have access to an elec shop with an oscilloscope, they can easily see the diode failure, if it is the case.

If you have 50000 miles or more, replace the alternator.
