'37 5011 series lasalle brake drums

The brake drums need to be turned on this '37 5011 series lasalle. the problem is the drums have already been turned to the limit. What are the options open to me? Are replacement drums available anywhere on planet earth? All help will be greatly appreicated,thanks much.

  John, I missed the brake drums. I could not get an E-mail answer to the guestion would the drums fit a 5011 an could they be turned. I was going to take a chance anyway but was too late.

As long as we are on this topic, it seems like there should be a way of adding metal to worn out drums. Has anybody ever heard of this being done?

In my sons company they would metal spray the inside and turn it down to standard. they do this kind of work on a daily basis.

Thats exactly what they call it Brady "Metal Spraying" I had it done here to recover a big end journal that was already down to 60th more then 30 years ago.  Your only problem is finding a company close in a country as vast as the US.
Bet you best option is still to find used ones, my friend Jim Stamper has fitted a La Salle axle to his Cadillac and so may have some rears, Perhaps he will chip in?

Hi Brady - As Steve suggested , the process is called "metal spraying" . It's also referred to as "plasma spray" or "thermal spray". I got involved with this process in an attempt to find a solution to replate the cast aluminum bumpers on my 57 Biarritz . Type  "plasma spray" in the pop up search box of the Forum and you should get two responses ( 6/2011 & 2/2009 ) that I entered  about this subject in the technical section as it pertained to my bumpers . The older response is more detailed . The problem that I ran into, with aluminum showing through the sprayed on copper ( see attached photo ), shouldn't be an issue with your drums since they are probably worn down evenly and probably don't have any significant high spots . Once the sprayed surface - which has a rough sandpaper finish - is trimmed back and smoothed to the dimension you want , you should have a smooth, uniform surface of only the metal which was sprayed . I certainly can't advise you as to how well that surface will hold up on a brake drum , as I only have experience with chrome plated parts . I'll leave that advice to someone else who knows what they are talking about . If you google "plasma spray" or "thermal spray", you might be able to find a company close to you that can do the job .
