Does anyone know if a right-hand mirror from a newer model cadillac would work on a 68 Eldorado? Would you happen to know which models would fit the contour of the 68 model's door?  It would have to have the same length from the bottom of the mirror to the door so that the mirror would be level.  The mirrors from the newer models are virtually the same in looks. Thanks.

Glen

The main difference in the mirrors is the contour of the base where it mates with the door.  If that is wrong it wont sit right on the door.  I have wondered if it would be possible to reshape a newer mirror base to fit the 68 â€" 70 doors.

Of course there is the remote control for the newer mirrors to contend with.

The only problem with re-shaping a Mirror base is the need to have it re-chromed after the shaping is done.   As most are diecast, the chrome finish is removed whilst grinding the bottom away and in some cases, the plating surface layer can start to peel away.

I have done this a lot when doing RHD Conversions, as half the time, there is no Right Mirror on the car being done.
